This second article (see link) is a segment on infertility from the TODAY show. It talks about how breaking the silence and talking about infertility with a support group increase your chances for getting pregnant. Pretty interesting stuff! We both agreed that it's odd that our doctor's office doesn't offer any group counseling sessions. They recommend that we meet with a counselor - but this study talks more about getting support from other ladies going through it. I think my IVF buddy and I are lucky to have each other and we're doing an awesome job of being there for each other! I definitely agree that it's good to have an outlet and someone you can talk to about it all - I couldn't imagine going through all of this and not having my IVF buddy. This blog is also a great way for me to break the silence and share our journey with my family & friends. Even if many of my blog readers aren't going through it themselves, I still think that you are all a pretty amazing support group for me and my husband. Good night!
Just wanted to share a couple links that my IVF buddy told me about tonight. This first article (see link) talks about how polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) may contribute to failed in vitro attempts. I still don't think I quite understand what PCBs are - but apparently it's something that could be tested for in your blood levels. And according to this study, women with higher PCB levels had less success rates with in vitro. We'll have to ask Dr. Williams about this to get his take on it.
